Donate and Volunteer to Help Japan Rebuild!
Pre-opening reception of a new community space, Yume House, in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture was held on 21 December, 2013. "Yume" means dream in Japanese. This house is a symbol of hope for the local residents.
Habitat for Humanity Japan (HFH Japan) started repair works in September 2013 with volunteers and the locals. This house was repaired to be a new community space where the locals take part in various activities, supported by volunteers from all over Japan. At the pre-opening reception, representatives of the partner organization Umineko, the mayor of Onagawa Town, the local residents and volunteers gathered and celebrated the pre-opening with live music and homemade dishes.
Junko Yagi, Administrative Director of Umineko and Yume House said, "We could not have had this pre-opening day if HFH Japan did not join us and help rebuild this house. HFH Japan is our best and greatest partner!"
HFH Japan continues to repair the exterior and interior walls of the Yume House, whose official opening is scheduled for Spring 2014.
