Global Village

Global Village is an important part of Habitat's mission, "bringing people together to build homes, community, and hope", wherein volunteers travel overseas for up to ten days to build and repair homes alongside local families, creating safe and decent places to live for those in need around the world.

Important Announcement:
After program suspension in response to COVID-19, Global Village dispatch from Japan has resumed on a limited basis to a number of select countries. To view the current roster of hosting countries, please check here.

The Global Village Difference:

Global Village is a unique program that allows volunteers to get involved eliminating housing poverty worldwide in a direct and meaningful way.

Habitat's approach to collaboration with our our partners, "sweat equity" is based on the principle where future home owners, or "home partners", pitch in to build what will become their new home together with volunteers. With participation from not only home partners but volunteers too, Global Village is able to build safe and decent housing at an affordable cost. Through building, home partners and volunteers alike are able to work towards a common goal, transcending cultural and language barriers to foster new connections, new points of view,  and new friendships.

Global Village is supported by teams of volunteers universities, student organizations, corporations, civic groups, and church groups from around the world. At the worksite, experienced Habitat staff and local engineers and contractors guide volunteers through the building process each step of the way. Anyone over 18 years of age is eligible to join! Join us and help put in the work to create safe and decent housing worldwide through the Global Village program.
