20120607kameokacc1.jpgThe rehabilitation of the Kameoka community center in Nobiru district, Higashimatsushima city, Miyagi, goes on.

At the end of May, rehabilitation process started proceeding at full tilt. On 26th, some skilled volunteers joined the program and laid floor boards in the main room, in preparation for Tatami mats to be laid at the very end of the whole process. After the floor boards are in place, volunteers from all over Japan joined in and repaired broken ceiling structures and doors of the rest rooms.

20120607kameokacc2.jpgOn June 2nd to 4th, outside walls were treated. There was an additional space on the wall because recycled window frames installed were smaller than the original ones, and wooden boards were placed there to add a warm touch to it. Wooden stairs were also placed just outside of the main room to provide wider entrance so that people can come in and get together easily. Inside walls and ceiling will be treated as the rest of the rehabilitation process.

Mr. Izumi, a leader of Eastern Kameoka district looked at about-to-be-reborn Kameoka community center and said "it is important for the people in this area to get together and communicate more than ever now. For the better communication, we will make the most of this center".

Habitat Japan is continuously working with the affected families by providing help and supporting to their urgent needs.
