About the country: Nepal
Located in the foothills of the Himalayas, Nepal is often counted as one of the poorest countries in the world. While its disaster prone climate is similar to Japan, the fact the country is also one of the most frequently struck by earthquakes (*) is not as well known.

One possible solution
Working with International Center for Urban Safety Engineering (ICUS) at the University of Tokyo, HFH Japan is looking to include earthquake resistance technology into houses that Habitat builds around the world. Professor Meguro has developed the technology that can be applied to houses by non-professionals but with simple training, and uses PP band, material that are commonly available and cheaply attainable. HFH Japan is now in the process of developing a project aimed at delivering this technology to the low income households that are at risk of earthquake devastation.
Calling for You to Take Part!
