2011Spring_CIMG4801.jpgA Global Village Program(GV) team is now recruiting volunteers to go build homes and hopes in Indonesia this summer. Usually teams consisting of 15-25 members are able to apply for GV, but through this team, individuals join the leader to create a team. This is a rare and great opportunity for non-team applicants to join in.
　　
This team is going to build in Indonesia, which is also a popular vacation destination and rich in natural resources. Approximately17,000 islands compose this country, and therefore there is a vast ethnic and cultural diversity. With it's world 4th biggest population, the country is experiencing a strong economic growth in recent years. However, 29% of population still has to live under poverty with less than 1.25 US dollars per day and recent economic growth is not enjoyed equally. Poverty can be seen especially in rural areas and there are many families who cannot afford decent homes.
　　
2011Spring_CIMG5366.jpgMs. Saya Komatsu, who used to work at Habitat Indonesia, is the leader of this team. She was also a representative of Rits Habitat, one of the campus chapters of Habitat Japan, and has participated in the GV trips several times.
