December 5 was International Volunteer Day, a day designated by the United Nations to celebrate solidarity through volunteering. For Habitat, it is an important day to encourage volunteering and appreciate our volunteers. Our mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. In Japan in 2022, hundreds of youths and corporate volunteers joined our sessions to provide decent housing to those in need.
Bloomberg, one of our long standing partners, joined Habitat on this International Volunteer Day when leaders from their APAC offices gathered in Tokyo. Bloomberg volunteers worked together to replace seventy-eight window screens for a single mother`s shelter we support to provide better living conditions for the families living there.
Norman Tweeboom, Japan Regional Head of Bloomberg said “Community service is part of everything we do at Bloomerg. Bloomberg is so proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity globally and to support the mission of eradicating housing inequality, and to help build or improve places that people in need can call home.”
When celebrating "International Volunteer Day" we all shared the objective of a decent home and acted together toward realizing our vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. We will continue working with our volunteers to support the greatest number of people possible and improve housing inequality.
