On September 11, 19 volunteers from Habitat Japan’s corporate partners, Hilton Grand Vacations and Cisco Systems G.K., joined a volunteer activity to prepare for a charity bazaar hosted by the Youth Welfare Center.
The Youth Welfare Center operates two children’s homes and three independent living support homes, providing care and support for young people aged 12 and above who are unable to live with their families for various reasons. Proceeds from the biennial bazaar support children living in the facilities and young people after they leave, including expenses for coming-of-age ceremonies and other activities.
The volunteers worked across the second and third floors of the venue, unpacking donated items and carefully sorting and displaying them by category so visitors could easily browse and pick up items. During the break, staff from the Youth Welfare Center shared more about their work and the challenges faced by children living in residential care, providing volunteers with a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding.
Chairman Arafune of the Youth Welfare Center expressed her appreciation, saying that thanks to the many volunteers, preparations were completed earlier than usual.
Habitat Japan is also planning a renovation project for the third and fourth floors of Gyosei Gakuen, one of the children’s homes operated by the Youth Welfare Center, to create a more comfortable and supportive living environment for the children.
Thank you so much to everyone from Hilton Grand Vacations and Cisco Systems G.K. for your time and support. We truly appreciate your participation!
