A safe home is more than a roof over our heads. It protects families from severe weather, supports their health, and provides a secure place to live, learn, and build a future.
With generous support from Sangetsu Corporation, Habitat for Humanity Japan supported three vulnerable families, comprising 13 people, in Hoa Hung Commune, An Giang Province, Vietnam. Around 21% of households in the community are poor, near-poor, or socially vulnerable, with many facing challenges accessing safe housing and sanitation. By the end of July 2026, all three houses were completed and handed over to the families.
In addition to constructing new homes, the project also provided training on safe building techniques and proper housing maintenance. This training helps families maintain their homes effectively and supports them in living safely and comfortably over the long term.
“My Family Can Live Safely Now”
These are the words of Ms. Pham Thi Tam, 60, who shared how the new house has transformed her family’s daily life. She previously lived in an old, deteriorated home that leaked during the rainy season while caring for her two grandchildren. With the completion of their new home, the family can now live safely, and her grandchildren finally have a secure environment where they can study and grow.
The construction of safe homes fosters a sense of security and hope for the future for families. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sangetsu Corporation for their warm support and continued partnership.
