On May 23, seven ASM employees and eight students from Habitat Japan’s Campus Chapters from six universities joined together for a volunteer activity at the Bott Memorial Home, a children’s home in Machida, Tokyo.
Despite the slightly chilly weather, participants carried out cleaning activities, including washing walls with high-pressure cleaners and cleaning windows. Many students were using the equipment for the first time, but with guidance from ASM employees, they worked together in a friendly atmosphere. As a result, dirt and black stains were removed, and all five buildings on the premises were thoroughly cleaned.
The activity also provided a valuable opportunity for students to interact with company employees. Participants commented, “It was great to connect with ASM employees” and “We were happy to work together with ASM employees for the children.”
In addition, as part of ASM’s STEM education program, 15 LED lights were donated to the children at the Bott Memorial Home. This was in response to a request from the facility staff, who hoped that the children would be able to use items they created themselves in their daily lives. The LED lights were provided as materials for handmade desk lamps.
Mr. Hayashi, a staff member at the facility, commented, “The donated LED lights will inspire children who enjoy hands-on projects and expand their creative possibilities. We believe it will also provide them with a valuable experience of creating something they can use in their daily lives. We sincerely appreciate this generous donation.” Habitat Japan will continue to collaborate with corporate partners to improve living environments in welfare facilities across Japan. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to ASM for their ongoing support of our facility improvement program.
