On May 30, volunteers from P&G Japan participated in activities at “Kodomo no Sono” children’s home in Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, as part of the ongoing “Playground Project” to develop the hillside area behind known as “Forest Terrace.” The project has been carried out over approximately three years, and this activity marked an important milestone in its continued development.

This was P&G Japan’s first volunteer activity with Habitat Japan and participants engaged enthusiastically in creating a safe and welcoming play space during their visit to Kodomo no Sono.

Volunteers were divided into three working areas during the day. One group planted grass around the parking area, while another planted seasonal flowers in the flower beds around the stage area, adding color and warmth to the space.

The third group worked on spreading wood chips across the playground area and successfully completed the wood chips work within the same day.

Many employees participated from across Japan, including from the company’s headquarters in Kobe. Volunteers shared that the experience provided a valuable opportunity to better understand life at the children’s home, and many expressed a strong interest in taking part in future activities.

In addition to volunteering, P&G Japan also donated eight boxes of P&G products, including shampoo and conditioner, to the children at the facility. The donation was warmly received, with Director Wada expressing his gratitude with a thank you card made by the children.

Thanks to the collaboration of everyone involved, a safe and enriching natural environment where children can play has been created. We extend our sincere gratitude to P&G Japan for their support in this project.
