Through our Facility Improvement Program, Habitat Japan works with corporate supporters to help meet the needs of welfare facilities like children’s homes and shelters for single mothers. In recent years, beyond financial support and volunteering, many partners offer their specialty goods and services to facilities in need.
On Tuesday, August 19th, two representatives from Habitat Japan’s supporter the Sangetsu Corporation visited Yokohama Kunmouin, a children’s home in Yokohama City housing children with disabilities, donating and personally installing sets of new curtains around the facility’s common areas. Habitat has previously responded to urgent repair needs at the facility, including renovations of bedrooms, bathrooms, and handwashing areas.
In anticipation of a future Habitat Japan project to renovate the restrooms on all four floors of the aging facility, Sangetsu generously provided and personally installed new curtains for bathroom entrances. The curtains with fun colors and distinct patterns serve not only to liven the atmosphere but to make it easier for children living at the home to differentiate between standard and assisted-use restrooms while improving privacy and safety. Additionally, Sangetsu replaced all the cafeteria’s curtains, refreshing the space and creating a bright, warm, and welcoming atmosphere.
We offer our sincerest thanks to Sangetsu for not only offering their financial support for housing projects internationally, but also providing their products and expertise to improve the lives of those living in welfare facilities in Japan.
