“We are proud to support Habitat Japan and those in need by putting BGO’s greatest strength—teamwork—into action.”
These heartfelt words came from one of the volunteers from BGO, a long-time corporate partner of Habitat Japan.
On May 16th, a dedicated team of 21 BGO employees volunteered their time to help improve the environment at several welfare facilities in Tokyo’s Meguro Ward, including the children’s home Meguro Wakabaryo.
The volunteers took on a range of tasks that are often difficult for facility staff to manage on their own, such as removing overgrown weeds and cleaning out rain gutters. They also tackled long-overdue maintenance, including the cleaning of filters and grilles for 16 air conditioning units at an elderly care facility located on the same grounds.
Following the activity, a staff member shared their appreciation: We operate several welfare facilities on the same premises. Normally, our staff are fully occupied with day-to-day operations, and we rarely get a chance to coordinate across facilities. The arrival of volunteers gave us a valuable opportunity to discuss and share our most pressing needs. Their support helped us take care of tasks we’ve long struggled to address on our own. We are truly grateful.”
Through our Facility Improvement Program, Habitat Japan addresses the aging infrastructure and environmental challenges faced by welfare institutions such as children’s homes. With the ongoing support of corporate partners like BGO—both through donations and hands-on volunteer efforts—we’re able to help create safe and decent places to live for vulnerable communities.
To our friends at BGO, we extend our deepest thanks for your continued partnership and generous spirit.
