On October 1st and 2nd, Habitat Japan took part in the Global Festa JAPAN event in Hibiya Park, the largest international aid event in the country. "Connections" was the overall theme, and many different groups involved in Tohoku relief efforts took part.
At the Habitat booth, as well as our work in Tohoku we were also talking about the Global Village programe. The Habitat Japan staff, proudly wearing their official T-shirts, were seeking to maximise awareness of GV by introducing all its unique advantages in terms of personal development and experience, while also talking about the practical side of planning a trip. On the first day Habitat also participated in a panel discussion on the main stage with the comedian Sandwich Man, and Ms. Misa Imanishi (Kansai University) stood up in front of the crowds to introduce her own experiences with the Habitat Japan student group Muster Peace through both Tohoku volunteering and Global Village (see photo below).
At the booth we met Habitat supporters both old and new, were able to renew many old acquaintances, and over the two days were grateful to recognize our own valuable "connections" at work.
