This week, construction began on the first 20 homes in Maule, Curepto where an estimated 70 percent of the houses are uninhabitable, and one house has been completed and two more are under construction with a group of volunteers from the Chilean Army.

Habitat Chile, while continuing to evaluate needs in the affected areas, has launched a first response that aims to build 36 "progressive" houses, similar to the core houses that Habitat will be building in Haiti.
