Dear Supporters,
Habitat Japan would like to announce our responce and risk management against swine flu. Please refer to the comments below to aid your decision making while applying and joining the Global Village trips this summer.
"Will Habitat cancel our trip because of the Swine Flu?"
Yes, there is a possibility Habitat will refrain teams from starting their programs in case the flu spreads widely in the destination countries. However, we do not have any information leading us to such decision at this point (for teams departing Japan in August and on).
"In what situation does Habitat cancel our trip?"
Habitat will cancel trips in emergency situations including where it is considered unsafe for our participants to work. To detect such situations at the earliest stage possible, Habitat Japan is in constant communication with the local offices and the Asia-Pacific regional office (located in Bangkok, Thailand). This enables us to stay ready to determine and monitor the safety of our participants at all time. In addition to this, we also have below listed sources of information.
?Information from other governments
?Cancellations and delay of international transportations
?Natural disasters and conflicts
Habitat Japan puts priority especially on the information provided my Japanese government; it was a main information source in all past situations where we had to resort to cancellation of trips.
As of today, we have not received any information that leads us to cancel this summer's trips from any destination countries. We will continue to monitor the situation, yet please refer to above mentioned information in your decision making upon application and joining our programs.
"Will the slot reservation fee (deposit) be refunded if Habitat cancels out trip?"
At this point, the regular cancellation policy will be applied because we do not recognize any emergency reason to cancel the trips. However, please note that we will announce and contact all applicable teams if we were to apply special treatment due to the situation immediately.
In partnerships,
