“Who Says You Can’t Go Home” was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, the songwriting team responsible for some of the most recognizable rock and pop hits of the past 20-plus years. “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” is the second single form the band’s ninth studio album, “Have A Nice Day”, which was released in September 2005. The album debut earned a career-high sales week for the band in the United States, as well as debuting at No.1 in Japan, Australia, Holland, Austria, Germany and Canada. The album has currently more than three million albums worldwide.
The video was shot on a real Habitat build site in North Philadelphia, where Jon Bon Jovi is sponsoring the construction of two duplexes (four homes) in a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity International. There was the standard flurry of activity as hard-working volunteers pounded hammers, appointed walls and pushed wheelbarrows full of tools and build materials across the yard.
Jon Bon Jovi is an area-resident known for this community involvement. Bon Jovi began building homes with Habitat in 2005 and since then has worked with his Arena Football League team, the Philadelphia Soul, to build six homes in Philadelphia. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Bon Jovi would later make an appearance on Oprah with a surprise $1 million donation that has since been used by Oprah’s Angel Network and Habitat for Humanity to build 27 homes in Houma, La.
Jon Bon Jovi has been named the first Founding Ambassador of the Habitat for Humanity Ambassador Program (since October, 2006).
