On September 30, 2026, Habitat for Humanity Japan hosted its Charity Gala 2026 at Tsunamachi Mitsui Club in Tokyo.
The event brought together approximately 140 supporters from corporations, organizations, and the wider community, including the Ambassador of Sweden. It was an evening filled with meaningful connections, shared purpose, and generous support for Habitat Japan's mission. The evening opened with remarks from Habitat Japan Chairperson Cecilia Mellin, followed by a video showcasing Habitat Japan's work.
Guests also heard inspiring speeches from Mr. Yokoyama, Director of Yokohama Kunmoin, a residential facility for children with disabilities that has received support through Habitat's Facility Improvement Program, as well as a student representative from Habitat's Campus Chapters. Through their stories, attendees gained a deeper understanding of how safe and adequate living environments can transform lives and create opportunities for the future.
The evening also featured a captivating Bian Lian (Face-Changing) performance, a traditional performing art from China's Sichuan Province, as well as a classical guitar recital, both of which were warmly received by guests.
As part of the fundraising program, guests participated in a live charity auction, raffle drawing, and, for the first time, a silent auction. The funds raised during the evening will support Habitat Japan's facility improvement projects in Japan, as well as relief and recovery efforts for communities affected by the devastating floods that struck Nepal in August.
The gala was made possible through the support and dedication of many individuals and organizations, including our sponsors, performers, and student volunteers. The prizes and contributions generously donated by our sponsors played a vital role in the success of the fundraising activities and helped create an engaging and memorable experience for all who attended.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in, supported, and contributed to the event.
Every contribution made during the evening will help bring hope to people in need of safe and decent living conditions, both in Japan and abroad. Habitat for Humanity Japan remains committed to building a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
