Let's Build Japanese Traditional Long House ! (July)

Four families are building a traditional long house (also known as rowhouse or Nagaya in Japanese) in Fujino of Sagamihara city in Kanagawa Prefecture. They aim to incorporate as "local production for local consumption", which is the construction by local carpenters with using local lumber and natural energy.

Habitat Japan is taking a supportive part in this project by working with the local people and many other volunteers. We hope this project will help people aware of the splendor of Japanese traditional architecture and feel closer to it, and will revitalize local communities for a development through the local interaction between urban city and countryside.
