\nHFHJ is the Japanese branch of Habitat for Humanity International, whose Headquarters is in Atlanta in the United States of America. In cooperation with the other national organizations of Habitat for Humanity, HFHJ sends volunteers under the Global Village Program<\/a> to build and repair houses in different parts of the world. HFHJ's Youth Program is targeted at university students and facilitates participation of the Japanese youth in activities to address global issues. The members of 22 Campus Chapters across Japan have enthusiastically supported HFHJ both as volunteer builders and as fundraisers.
\nSince 2006, HFHJ has also been active in assistance in response humanitarian emergencies around the world. It provided financial aid following the Indian Ocean Tsunami and Haiti Earthquake and implemented rebuilding and repair projects for more than 1,600 families who suffered in the disaster areas of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Thailand.
\nIn 2011, HFHJ embarked on its first major domestic operation, in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. HFHJ has helped repair damaged homes for suffering people and upgrade community facilities to revitalize affected communities in Iwate and Miyagi prefectures.
\nIn the center of HFHJ's work in the last decade was dedicated partners; home partners, volunteers and supporters. All of its accomplishments have been made possible because of their support based on love and compassion.
\nHowever, the poverty housing issues still pose a global challenge, associated with the rapid population growth and increasing natural disasters in the world.
\nHFHJ will continue to support vulnerable, disadvantaged families across Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, and strive to realize a world where everyone has a decent place to live. For that, HFHJ needs your continued support which enables HFHJ to overcome challenges and continue to work for those in need.
