\n\"20120530shichigahama.jpg\"<\/a>In May, Habitat Japan rehabilitated a partially damaged private house in Shichigahama town, Miyagi. In Shobudahama, a part of this town, approximately 500 homes were washed away in the tsunami. Even now, many plots have only foundations remaining. The family that used to reside in this house has moved to a temporary shelter, but due to the difficulty of returning home, their house was left damaged until now. \u3000

\nThe first job was to assess the damages to decide what to remove. Once the assessment is complete, the damaged walls, floorboards, nails and insulating materials were taken away. Finally all of the debris and dirt under the floor was taken out using shovels, the house was cleaned up for upcoming construction.

\nThis time, thanks to the Golden Week holiday, a total of 13 volunteers took part in the project. Among them were professionals who worked in the construction industry, and they put their skills to work. With sincere faces, they said, \"I thought all of the rebuilding work was complete, but now I know that there is still a lot to do. I'd like to come back and help some more\".
