\nIshinomaki, where Habitat Japan's volunteer teams have been working since August, was once famous for its fishing port with large oyster and seaweed farms before the disaster. Habitat Japan's volunteers often work at coastal areas in Ishinomaki and also in Oshika Peninsula to clean debris and a lot of fishing equipment is found there.

\nIn this picture, a volunteer is holding small plastic pieces that appear to be nothing but trash, but they are very essential tools for oyster farming. Most of the local fishermen lost their equipment, including expensive ones, and in need of purchasing them again. Even the tiniest pieces are valuable and volunteers' tedious work to find, clean and to return any equipment found is truly appreciated. It is only one of the many small efforts by each volunteer can make a difference to rehabilitate communities.

\n\"tohoku_ishinomaki_20111022<\/a>On Oct 22, Habitat Japan's volunteers were working at a seafood processing factory in Ishinomaki and salvaged canned preserved fish from mud and debris. While cleaning the cans with their own hands one by one, volunteers listened to the stories from factory staff and brought smiles to them in return. Soon after, the salvaged cans unfit for the traded market started to be sold as \"the Cans of Miracle\" at local events to support the local economy.
