There was not much damage in Honiara, only a small quake was felt.<br \/>\n?\u3000A 10ft-high tsunami hit the Solomon Islands on Monday, wiping out one village and killing at least 13 people, according to news reports. However, it is expected that the number  of deaths could be more than 20.\uff08 HFH-AP, Solomon Island Government communication unit press release\uff09<br \/>\n?\u3000Large waves struck the western town of Gizo, inundating buildings and causing widespread destruction. The Solomon Islands Red Cross said approximately 2,000 people, or 10 percent of Gizo\u2019s population, are now homeless, while some 500 houses may have been damaged or destroyed. \uff08Solomon Island Government communication unit press release\uff09<br \/>\nPeople ran up the hill, and stayed overnight outside, without roof. The government through the NDC is mobilizing a team of some 40 people to go to the affected area to carry out ground assessment.
