About 280 attendees joined us for two public performances, one during the morning and one during the evening; the hall was filled with enthusiasm on both occasions. This event was sponsored by 3 Campus Chapters from Kanda University of International Studies, Aoyama Gakuin University, and Meiji Gakuin University, which are student-led, student-initiated organizations on college campuses that work as partners with Habitat for Humanity Japan.

The purpose of this event was 1) to raise awareness about the situation in Bangladesh, 2) to collect donations that will pay for building materials, such as bricks and cement, to construct brick houses, and 3) to bring smiles to the faces of Bangladeshi Habitat participants by building houses and hope. To achieve these goals, we provided audience members with an opportunity to communicate with people from Bangladesh, and experience Bangladeshi culture. To expose attendees to Bangladeshi culture Chai Milk Tea, folk arts, and pictures of Bangladesh were made available at the event.
To allow attendees to communicate with Bangladeshi people two special guests, Bangladeshi photographer Kh. Anisur Rahaman and a Japanese/Bangladeshi comedy duo “Ami-Boro-Roku-Hoe-De-Sxie-Jete-Chai,” joined the event. Their performances brought a lot of enthusiasm to the audiences that gathered for <img loading="lazy" decoding="async" alt="DSC_0565-s.JPG"align=left src="http://www.habitatjp.org/jpblog/DSC_0565-s-thumb.JPG" width="242" height="162" /> the events. At the end of the presentations, a message from Mr. Prince Sanjay, a Volunteer Programs manager at Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh, was played for the audience on a video screen. In his message he said, “I want you to take an opportunity to visit my country, Bangladesh, sometime in your life.” This message seemed to lead the audiences to realize what they can do for the people who do not have adequate housing. And as a result, it seemed that the event made a real impact on the audience members.
An article about this event, written by Journalist, Mr. Hiroki Yamamoto, is available online.
☆☆Donations☆☆
All donations received at this event and gathered through street fundraising will go to Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh to build houses in Bangladesh.
