【JPN Relief-6】 Toiletries Delivered to Ofunato city, Iwate
On April 18th, Habitat Japan delivered toiletries (20 thousand rolls of toilet paper and 20 thousand boxes of tissue paper) donated by APP Japan to Ofunato city in Iwate Prefecture. They are to be distributed within and neighboring cities like Rikuzentakata city to aid in better sanitation for the disaster victims as needed.
Ofunato city currently operates 57 evacuation centers hosting approximately 6,521 people in total, according to the local government officials. 3,629 houses are completely or partially damaged. A month has passed since the disaster, but the citizens are stil left to uncomfortable lives in evacuation centers. It is expected that the evacuees' living conditions will continue on without drastic improvement into the near future, the need for help is obvious.
