Japan Hope Builders 09-1 departs for Bangkok! (2/25)
Tapping on the reputation of a well-known guidebook publisher CHIKYU-NO-ARUKIKATA and the logistical expertise of a travel agency STA TRAVEL, HFH Japan sends its 2nd Japan Hope Builders team to Thailand from Feb 25 to March 3. The 16-member team, comprising mostly university students recruited through STA TRAVEL agency, will build with HFH Thailand in Pattun Thani, an hour drive from Bangkok.
The family this team will build house with is Mrs.Pantip Chanuchit, her husband, and 2 daughters of age 14 and 9. Mrs.Chanuchit works as a babysitter at the local school and her husband work as a daily labor at a factory nearby their house. Chanuchit family lives in Mrs.Pantip's parents' house, however, they have only 1 small room which is not big enough for 6 people. Moreover they keep many plastic bags in their room to sell to recycle factory, and that makes the room much smaller.
Mrs.Chanuchit greatly manages their income (13,000THB/month) to get food, costs of living, tuition fee for school for the family, and she saves rest of the money to build Habitat house.
Japan Hope Builders will also visit the local school where Mrs. Chanuchit works at, and this team will be the 1st foreign visitors for the local school. Habitat Japan staff will be leading this team and report on the website during the trip.
